# About SorrelSites — who builds it, and how to reach us

*SorrelSites is built by a small, independent team for clubs, associations and chambers. Here is who we are, how to reach a real person, and what we commit to about your data and your money.*

About

## Built around the people who keep it all going.

SorrelSites is membership software for clubs, associations and chambers — yacht and sailing clubs, golf and tennis clubs, professional societies, alumni groups and HOAs that keep their own member records. This page is the short version of who is behind it and what we will and will not do with your organization's data.

[Talk with our team](/evaluate/#request)How to reach us

We build for the board after this one — see how that shows up on [board governance](/governance/).

### How do I talk to a real person at SorrelSites?

Email [support@joinsorrel.com](mailto:support@joinsorrel.com) and a real person here will answer you. That address isn't a ticket queue that routes to a chatbot — it reaches the people who build SorrelSites.

If your organization has more than 2,000 members, or you run a network of chapters, write to the same address and tell us roughly how many members and chapters you have. Those setups are priced individually, and we'd sooner talk it through than have you guess from a pricing page.

### Who is behind SorrelSites?

Jeffrey Bugbee

Founder, and the president of a national sailing association

I'm an engineer and a sailor, and I'm the president of a national sailing association — so the renewal spreadsheet, the minutes somebody retypes every month, and the website nobody wants to touch are my problems too. I built SorrelSites because I needed it. Before this I was a consultant in workforce-management software, putting systems in front of organizations of every size, and what I took from it is that the software is the easy part; the people using it are the point. I take the evaluation calls myself, I answer support@joinsorrel.com myself, and if your move-in doesn't go the way you wanted, I'm the one who gets in and fixes it with you.

I'm its president, so this is a receipt, not a testimonial — but it is a real association running its real site on SorrelSites, and you can check every word of that in one click. It's North American Blokart Sailing Association — you can [see its site](https://nabsa.sorrelsites.com/) and find my name on its board page.

### What support do I get, and does it depend on my plan?

Free includes self-serve help through Sprout and the help guide. You get real help on every paid plan, including Starter — a small club and a large association reach the same people at the same address.

What I'm trying to be is closer to a coach than a help desk. Most software in this category waits for you to get stuck, then answers the question you managed to ask. I'd rather know how your year runs — when your renewals land, what your board is trying to fix — because that's the help I wished I'd had at my own associations.

I answer support@joinsorrel.com myself. It's a small company, which is why that's possible: the same people see your organization every time.

Sprout covers what doesn't need a person, around the clock. That's what leaves a person free for what does.

While you're settling in after a move, it goes further. If something didn't come across from your old system the way you wanted, tell me and I'll get in and fix it with you, at no charge and without you filing a ticket. That offer is about the move-in — it isn't open-ended website design work, and I'd rather say so now than let you find the edge later.

### Will you build what my organization needs?

If it fits what SorrelSites is for, yes — and you scope it with the person who would build it, not a ticket queue.

We're a small engineering team that takes its direction from the organizations it serves — and I run associations too, so a good share of what SorrelSites does started as something my own board needed. Most of what an organization asks for is something every organization would use: a volunteer schedule, a field on the join form, a way to stop one person buying two tickets. Those we build for you and for everyone.

What we won't do is build a one-off that works for one organization and breaks for the rest, or reach outside what SorrelSites is for. Deep double-entry accounting, a learning-management system and a branded native app are deliberate non-goals, and if your need is one of those you'll hear it from me on the call.

The pace is a matter of record, not a claim: [what we've shipped](/shipped/) lists recent changes with the problem behind each one.

### What happens to my organization's data and money?

Your data stays yours and your dues never pass through SorrelSites' bank account. Those two things are worth checking before you move your organization's records anywhere new, so here they are in writing.

-

#### Your data is yours, and you can take it out whenever you want

Export your members, your dues history, your events and your documents at any time, without asking us and without paying for the privilege. We don't hold your data hostage to keep your business.

-

#### Your dues go to your own bank account, not through ours

Dues and event payments land in your organization's own Stripe account. We run the connection so you don't have to manage it day to day, but the money is never pooled in a SorrelSites account and doesn't pass through us on its way to you.

-

#### Month to month, with no exit penalty

SorrelSites is billed month to month. There's no minimum term, no auto-renewing annual lock-in you have to catch in time, and no penalty for leaving. If you pay annually for the discount and then leave, you aren't charged again.

-

#### If we ever wind down, you get your data out first

If we ever shut down, you'd get notice and a working export before anything stopped. Small organizations have been burned by a dead login page before, and it's a fair thing to ask of a young company. This one isn't in the Terms yet — it's a commitment made here, in writing, so you can hold us to it.

Except where noted above, the binding versions of these live in our [Terms](/terms/) and [Privacy policy](/privacy/).

### Can I sign up today?

Yes — 14 days free, no credit card, and your site is live at your own address as soon as you confirm your email.

You can start with the free board plan or try the full product for 14 days, with no card. If you'd rather talk it through first, you can book half an hour with me and we'll look at what your organization needs.

If you'd rather talk it through first, [book half an hour](/evaluate/#request) or email [support@joinsorrel.com](mailto:support@joinsorrel.com).

### Let’s make this about your organization.
